Addiction

What it is and where to turn

Often we find ourselves in difficult relationships with alcohol, drugs, food and a variety of other things which we think may lessen our pain, whether it is after we experience a break up or if we are under pressure at work. Sometimes this dependency rectifies itself but sometimes it does not. Other times we may see someone close to us go through these same experiences. It therefore becomes really important for us all to understand and identify the signs of different
addictions so that we are best placed to make a positive intervention.

This topic, delivered by a qualified mental health professional, aims to help us to understand and identify signs and symptoms of various forms of common addictions, including alcohol, drugs and gambling. We will offer information and support to anyone who may be struggling with an addiction themselves or anyone who is concerned about a loved one, with insights around the causes and effects of addiction and the potentially harmful patterns of behaviour involve. This topic is full of information, advice and tips on how someone can seek help and the relevant resources and support systems available.

The webinar will be available for all NAME employees to watch from DATE and will remain available for 30 days.

In addition to the webinar, we have created a useful handout which you can print out and refer back to. In this handout, we cover some of the key points in our presentation.
