Courageous Conversations: Grief and Loss - Dr Eddie Murphy

Dr. Eddie Murphy is one Ireland’s leading clinical psychologists and wellbeing advocates. As a trusted voice, he is the psychologist on RTE’s Operation Transformation where his practical, respectful and hope orientated approach has opened the hidden doors of the therapy room to the public at large.

This session explores the human experience of grief in its many forms — bereavement, miscarriage, health challenges, relationship loss, and other life changes. Grief is not just about death; it is about the many endings and transitions we all face. By understanding how grief touches people’s lives, we can respond with greater empathy, presence, and care.

Objectives:

Recognise the wide spectrum of grief and loss experiences.

Understand the human impact of grief — emotional, physical, and relational.

Explore how to have meaningful, compassionate conversations with those who are grieving.

Touch on how this awareness can support healthier connections in all areas of life, including the workplace.

Format:

No PowerPoint — the session will be interactive and conversational.

Real stories, reflections, and simple language around what to say (and what not to say).

Gentle space for participants to connect with their own experiences of loss.

Practical resources and supports will be shared.

Key Message:

We are human beings, not just human doings. Grief is part of being alive, and by meeting it with compassion we strengthen our capacity to care for ourselves and others — at work and beyond.

The recording will be available for all HedgServ employees to watch from September 22nd and will remain available for 30 days.
